Getting My Bearings

Whew!!! Ok, where was I?

Seems like forever since I've been able to spend some time on this. Sorry about that. It's not for a lack of trying. (STEM's internet and Blogger's connection has been less than desirable.)

Well, here's a quick Boston recap.

It was good. Looking back I can see it was worth the headache of trying to get caught up. Roger, Dana, and I were all overwhelmed with the amount of stats that Dr. Johnson has concerning the state of world Christianity. We didn't know where to begin. We devoured two good days just contemplating on where to start. This years Mission Maker article will be fun to see when it's done.

(From left to right: Cromwell student Brad, Dana, Roger, and Dr. Johnson facing away.)

We were able to do a little sightseeing. Salem and downtown Boston were our destinations. Both were fun but I'm glad I don't live there. I don't know which was worse, the amount of curvy, narrow roads or the amount of seafood I ate. Don't get me wrong, I like seafood, but from now on I'll enjoy it in moderation.

(September 22nd (Mom's birthday) 1692 (Not Mom's birth year) was a huge day for hangings in Salem concerning alleged witches.)

(Flower boxes seem to be very popular in downtown Boston.)

(A typical view of old and new architecture.)

P.S. Thank you everyone for the birthday greetings. I'm still hoping to send each of you who sent me a card a quick email "thank you".

GOD'S MESSAGE FOR ME TODAY
So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth? —Galations 4:16

HOW DOES THIS APPLY TO MY LIFE?
How many times do we hold back from telling the truth because we are afraid of what the other person might say? For example, if we knew a brother or sister in Christ had a problem with gambling, pornography, or anger (just to name a few), and we didn't lovingly confront them because we thought they might not like us anymore; is that love? It's tough. How do you lovingly confront someone? Maybe parents have it down? Bottom line is, we must do it. We confront them because we love them, not hate them.
