Seeing Red

White Jersey vs. Blue Jersey = Red Card Victory

A typical soccer game consists of 11 men (or women) for each team. This particular one ended up 10 vs. 9. Even though the final score was 1 all, the United States easily won this game. Bravo guys.

Like the game vs the Czechs, I won't go into detail about the game. If you really wanted to read about it, you could easily check out FIFAWorldCup.com. But I will briefly list some points:
  • No matter how many men were on the field, the U.S. always seemed to look better than Italy.
  • It was a very exciting match. For soccer critics complaining it is a boring sport, all I can say is: just watch and enjoy.
  • The ref has had a sordid past with inconsistancy. He wasn't allowed in the last World Cup and shouldn't have been allowed in this one.
  • Ask anyone, Italy fans included, the 2 U.S. red cards were unjustified.
Good job guys. Go U.S.!

GOD'S MESSAGE FOR ME TODAY
Do not sharply rebuke an older man, but rather appeal to him as a father, to the younger men as brothers, the older women as mothers, and the younger women as sisters, in all purity. —1 Timothy 5:1 and 2

HOW DOES THIS APPLY TO MY LIFE?
This is just a little bit more detailed of "loving your neighbor." But for whatever the reason, it makes it more personal for me. Every person we see, whether while driving, shopping, going shopping, going out to eat, or even at work, we are to love them as fathers, mothers, brothers, or sisters. Christians or non-Christians. The amount of love that we are to show can be mind boggling. Especially when we don't know the people we are called to love like family.
