2 For 1

"To Do" Before Baby Eidsmoe Arrives

As you probably have guessed, we have a mental list of what we need to accomplish before the stork brings our firstborn. The above list is just a few items. You will also notice that we were able to X-Out 2 items...chairs!

Last night we headed over to Ashley Furniture just to look for a glider for the nursery. It turns out that Ashley is a having a buy 1 get one 1 free deal on recliners. One hour later, our check book was lighter and our townhouse became heavier. The 2 chairs should arrive by Friday so we'll have to con J-Bone to come over and help us move them.

(The title of this post is "2 for 1" referring not only to the chairs post but also this article in ESPN the Magazine. How tricky am I?) ;)

Sporting Biblical Principles

I always like when the secular world states a Biblical principle without even knowing it. This time it was ESPN.

Yesterday I recieved the current ESPN Magazine via snail mail and did my quick little flip through. More often than not, the ESPN writers often take a liberal approach to sports. Well, this months opening editorial got it right...almost

For those of you who don't care to read the article, it basically points out the ego of sports stars. Sure they'll say the right things in front of the camera but when asked directly, they'll say there is no one better than themselves.

I thought the editorial should have ended on a positive note. Tony Dungy's name was mentioned but not like I'd hoped. He did it right when his team won the superbowl. He was humble and gave credit to someone other than himself; God. Oh well, I'll take what I can get.

A man's pride will bring him low, But a humble spirit will obtain honor.

Tuesday, March 6th, 2007/2 Kings chapters 21–23

GOD'S MESSAGE FOR ME TODAY
When the king heard the words of the book of the law, he tore his clothes. 2 Kings 22:11

HOW DOES THIS APPLY TO MY LIFE?
This is one of those verses you need to read in it's context. Josiah's reaction to sin is anexample for us all. He didn't tolerate it. First he repented to the Lord. Then he read God's law to all of the people. Next, 23:4–20, expalins all Josiah did to get rid of what he could that caused people to sin. Finally he celebrated what God had done by observing Passover.
