First & Last Supper

Changing of the (Imperial) Guard

This past weekend was a changing of the guard, if you will, concerning our church families. We said a "goodbye" to one and "hello" to the other.

Our "first supper" was Saturday night.
Bob and Ronda, a couple from our new church family, Hiawatha, invited us along with two other couples (Bob/Tammy and Peter/Becky), to an Italian themed dinner. (It was very good by the way.) It was a good mix of older and younger couples which turned out to be very enjoyable.

(Whenever I meet new people, it's always a little uncomfortable. But having said that, whenever I meet new people from church, it always a little easier knowing that we are all seeking Christ.)

Erin and I along with the other younger couple, Peter and Becky, ended up monopolizing Bob and Ronda's time by staying at there place til 9:30. Unfortunately Bob and Tammy had to leave earlier due to their work schedule. Needless to say we had a great time just visiting. (Boy do I sound old.)

Another bonus was that Peter is a sci-fi fan so we had a few "nerd" conversations gowing. Our wives were gracious enough to put up with us. ;)

In case you were wondering, Peter is the same "Peter Carlson" link I have on the right had side. You can check out his music themed blog by either clicking his name in the right-hand column or by clicking here.

Our "last supper" was yesterday.
After church, Erin and I drove over to meet with, what is now, our former small group from Grace Church Roseville. With us joining a new church and babies being born into the group, it was a unanimous decision that it was time to move on.

Being that we hadn't seen each other since before Christmas, we sure hit it off like we had just seen each other the day before. We were able to catch up on past prayer requests and see what God had done.

It was a 2 plus hour lunch with us all wanting to see each other again. Hopefully it will be sooner than later. It was kinda sad knowing we had had our last Bible study together but at the same time encouraging knowing God had brought us together for a good 2 years and He would still be with us.

Both Erin and I are looking forward to "future supper's" with new and future friends at Hiawatha but we will never forget and always cherish our close friends at Grace.

GOD'S MESSAGE FOR ME TODAY
"What more can David still say to You concerning the honor bestowed on Your servant? For You know Your servant." 1 Chronicles 17:18

HOW DOES THIS APPLY TO MY LIFE?
The Lord has just promised to continue His blessing on David and Israel. David's response is one of humility. In fact, he is almost speechless. What an honor it is that we know God and He knows us!

("I am the good shepherd, and I know My own and My own know Me,") John 10:14

Eidsmoes - what a great weekend for you and way to go with cherishing the past while moving into the place God is now calling you. It's a natural cycle in the body of Christ. We love you!
