Evaluating STEM

Quadrupling Our (Erin's) Efforts

As STEM continues to slowly grow (we have hired a second Mission Maker Magazine sales rep), we are increasingly in the need for streamlining our data entry. This is an area that I don't work with but Erin does.

Yesterday and today STEM's order of operation is being evaluated by an outside source. This source is co-founder of shorttermmissions.com, David Armstrong. Without spending the time to name his credentials, let me just say that he's in the know. He has been meeting with those of us who use STEM's database on a daily basis.

This morning, I was invited to the management meeting with David to hear some of his initial thoughts. Overall he said STEM is headed in the right direction. Basically we know we are behind and have already started to take steps in the right direction.

The highlight of the meeting was the two comments he said about Erin:
  1. "She is the center of everything."
  2. "She is the main person who is overworked and underpaid"
That's my Erin. David is really impressed at how much she does and knows in the office. Needless to say, I liked how he was bragging on my wife.

Anyway, he'll be leaving this afternoon and he has given STEM/Roger some great ideas and directions to pursue. Now the big question is, will STEM have the money to pull it off?

An update on STEM's moving. Bethany (who we rent our space from), they will give us a good deal but would like us out by April. Yea, April! Roger told them he doesn't think it can happen that fast. I tend to agree with him. Even though we have a relatively small office, there are a lot of items we need to purchase before we can even think about moving.

So we'll see what happens with Bethany's offer...

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007/1 Samuel chapters 16 & 17

GOD'S MESSAGE FOR ME TODAY
"Your servant has killed both the lion and the bear; and this uncircumcised Philistine will be like one of them, since he has taunted the armies of the living God."1 Samuel 17:36

HOW DOES THIS APPLY TO MY LIFE?
David was God's man. David had the experience of killing lions and bears and this huge Philistine was no different to him. God had been with David when had to rescue his flock and God would be with him when he had to rescue the Israel army. It just goes to show you never know how God will use the experiences in your life for His glory.
