Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed

HAPPY 30th BIRTHDAY STAR WARS!

It was 30 years ago today that Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Darth Vader were first introduced to the world. To help celebrate this geek milestone, the History Channel will be airing Star Wars: The Legacy Revealed on Memorial Day at 8 PM. History buffs and Star Wars nerds unite in this anticipated, two-hour documentary.

To quote the offical site:

Through interviews with politicians, academics, journalists and critics, we'll learn about the similarities between the tales of Luke Skywalker and King Arthur and Buddha and Yoda. We'll see how Star Wars' intensely compelling stories - borrowed from diverse traditions, from Greek mythology and American westerns to the Bible and even Vaudeville - force us to explore some of the biggest questions of our time.

Some of the interviewees will be:
  • • J.J. Abrams (ABC's Lost)
  • • Tom Brokaw
  • • Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings director)
  • • Dan Rather
  • and
  • • Nancy Pelosci (But don't hold that against your viewing it.) ;)

Here is the offical "trailer" for the special:

Even if you don't plan on watching the special, I would encourage you to visit the website. It has video clips, downloads, literary connections, and for the true geek, you can "get a call from the Dark Side".

Have a safe and relaxing Memorial Day weekend!
